Carla Swaine

Experience:Â 17 years and 4 years as an HR.
Languages: English.
Certification: Cert RP and HR.
A true people person with a sharp eye for detail, Carla brings over two decades of experience in luxury hospitality, yachting, and recruitment to her role as HR Manager at JMS. Raised on the island of Guernsey, UK, Carla’s early years were shaped by time spent on the water with her family, an experience that naturally led to a deep-rooted affinity for the yachting lifestyle.
She began her professional journey in the beauty and wellness sector, training and working as a Beauty Therapist before moving on to high-end roles at Harvey Nichols’ flagship store in London and the 5 star Your Sanctuary Day Spa in Sydney, Australia. Upon returning to the UK, Carla joined a prominent London yacht brokerage, where she spent 11 years honing her skills and building valuable industry insight.
After relocating to Brighton, Carla entered the world of IT recruitment, where her talent for candidate profiling and client service quickly caught attention. It wasn’t long before she was headhunted by JMS Crew, where she became a vital and well-loved member of the team. Her exceptional ability to match candidates with client expectations, thanks to her keen organisational sense, intuition, and communication skills, ensures that Captains and Owners are presented only with candidates who are truly aligned with their needs.
Now serving as HR Manager, Carla holds a CIPD qualification and leads with a balance of professionalism, empathy, and precision. Her role is central to supporting the company’s recruitment excellence and maintaining a culture of trust and efficiency.
Carla finds joy in life’s little pleasures, particularly walking the Sussex Downs with her spirited Yorkie-Poo (although she admits the dog often takes the lead). She is also passionate about up-cycling furniture and home décor, a hobby sparked by frustration with bland new furniture and inspired by her mum’s creative flair. What started as a personal project has turned into a weekend ritual, browsing second-hand shops in search of vintage treasures to transform with colour and character.
