• Crew Qualifications Vetting

All crew must hold valid STCW and ENG1 certifications, meeting Flag State requirements and safety standards. JMS uses strict recruitment and screening processes to ensure qualified placements. These measures protect the vessel and all onboard in any incident.

• MLC Compliance

All commercial yachts must comply with MLC2006, and private yachts are strongly encouraged to follow the code. JMS helps implement and maintain compliance, including DMLC II, Crew Handbooks, and valid Seafarers Employment Agreements (SEA) for all crew.

• Crew Confidentiality Agreement

Confidentiality is central to JMS’s philosophy when handling information about Owners and guests. We ensure total discretion, requiring all crew and JMS staff to read and sign a Confidentiality Statement before employment.

• Crew Payroll

JMS manages crew salaries, including cash advances, holiday pay, and expenses, with the Captain’s input. To ensure compliance and protect the Owner, we recommend offshore payroll services, which JMS can arrange separately.

• Maintaining Crew Documents

JMS maintains up-to-date records of all crew and ensures certificates are renewed before expiry. For commercially registered yachts, these records support Flag State audits as part of our complete Crew Management & Payroll service.

• Criminal Background Check*

Criminal background checks are available as an additional service through a trusted third-party provider and are not included in the management fee. These involve sensitive, confidential matters, speak to a JMS Manager for details.

• Drug Screen/Prevention Programme*

JMS operates a zero-tolerance policy on drug usage and recommends our Random Drug Testing service to reduce health and safety risks onboard. Tests are conducted by an independent third-party provider, with costs charged separately from the management fee.
