Zoe serves as JMS’s Maritime Compliance Specialist, overseeing DPA responsibilities for ISM, ISPS, and MLC systems across a diverse fleet of yachts. Her role is pivotal in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing audits, leading incident response, and driving continuous safety improvements. As head of the QHSE team, she plays a central role in maintaining JMS’s high standards of safety and operational excellence.
With over 25 years of experience in the maritime industry, both at sea and ashore, Zoe brings deep operational insight and technical expertise to her work. She began her career at 18 as a Deck Officer Cadet in the Merchant Navy and spent a decade at sea in the offshore sector, steadily rising through the ranks to Chief Officer and Senior Dynamic Positioning Operator (SDPO). Zoe was among the first women to obtain an Unlimited DPO Certificate — a testament to her pioneering spirit and dedication to the profession. Her seagoing career spanned a wide range of vessel types, including supply ships, survey vessels, DSVs, cable layers, salvage vessels, and flotels, working for respected companies such as Stolt Offshore (now Subsea 7), Smit International, and Prosafe.
After coming ashore in 2003 and settling in The Netherlands, Zoe transitioned into senior QSHE roles within Dutch shipping companies managing general cargo vessels. For over 17 years, she has held responsibilities as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO), overseeing both vessel and office audits, implementing ISM, ISPS, and MLC frameworks, ensuring regulatory adherence, and leading investigations into maritime incidents.
Zoe’s comprehensive experience and steadfast commitment to safety and compliance make her an invaluable asset to the JMS team.
